Artist’s central question: What is the culture that we (second-generation Asian Americans) create? How do we view, embody, and navigate this culture in ways that acknowledge it as authentic in of itself?

Project statement: What kind of ancestors will we be?

This project has evolved. Project thought process sits somewhere around:

Culture → Ourselves as Ancestors → Objects & Storytelling

Separately, the thought is: the only way to understand a story is to tell it.

Asking ourselves the questions that help tell the story of who we are.

This is a digital garden created to contain my process and body of work for my Thesis at ITP NYU. This garden will continue to grow, change and morph as my work progresses.

The database below contains resources gathered for this garden. Default viewed tab is “Planted”, these are the resources that I have taken the time to tend, and have found relevant to my thought process. The second tab is “Seeds”, resources that I haven’t yet looked deeply into. The last tab is “Set Aside”, resources that did not bear any fruit for this particular process.
